Ethel A Smith Hirel passed on May 3, 2020 at Friendship Village Hospice of the Valley Tempe, Az. after a lengthy illness.
Born in Tulare County, California daughter of Vera Mae Thompson and Earl A Smith both of Native American decent.
She worked at General Cigar Co. and Visiting Nurses Association Kingston, Pa. when she was voted Wyoming Valley's Humanitarian of the Year. She also owned and ran her own family canine grooming and boarding business for over 25 years in Pringle, Pa.where she lived most of her life until moving to Mesa, Az.in 1995 and then retiring.
She was proceeded in death by brothers Jimmy Earl and Billy Lee Smith, sisters Mary Jane, Ivy, Charlotte and Katie Mae and grandsons James Myron and Joshua Butco.
Surviving are her husband Myron Joseph, Mesa Az., daughters Deborah Hierl Zapusek and husband Bernard, San Tan Valley, Az., Janet
Jean Marsh and husband Robert Mesa, Az.
grandsons Brooks Bernard Zapusek, San Tan Valley, Az.and Jason Butco , Ohio, great granddaughters Cassidy Lauren Zapusek,
Tuscon, Az., Kya Swanek, Pa., Lilyanne Legan, Mesa, Az., Kelsey Butco, Pa. and great grandsons Chase Wallace and Joshua Sams, Ohio.
