Mattie Ruth Land (nee Borders), 85, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away July 4, 2023, at home after a long illness. Private services will be held August 19, at Angels Cremation and Burial in Mesa.

Born in Austin, Texas, to Eula and Sterling Borders, she married the late Eugene Land in Austin in October 1957, a marriage that lasted 59 years. She relocated her family frequently, due to Eugene's service in the Air Force, before settling in Chandler in summer 1977.

She is survived by daughters Carol (Michael) Ostrowski and Ramona (Steve) Quesinberry, and son Charles Land; grandchildren Michelle Scifers, Alicia Robinson and Jonathan (Ronnie) Quesinberry; great-grandchildren Michael Iona, Tallulah Scifers, and Zoey and Rae Lynn Quesinberry; sister Dorothy Joseph and many nieces and nephews.

Mattie's many passions included cooking, baking, arts and crafts, quilting, sewing, gardening, camping and fishing. She loved her family, and always helped them in any way she could. Her warmth, energy, humor and generosity will be greatly missed.
