Join us for a celebration of life for Rorie “RJ” James Becka on Saturday October 28, 2023 from 1pm to 5pm at JAB Fitness, 7305 S Kyrene Rd, Tempe, AZ 85283.

Rorie “RJ” James Becka returned home to the lord on September 12, 2023, after a brief battle with brain cancer. RJ is survived by his loving wife Mary, son Matthew (Traci), grandchildren Tailynn, and Hennessey, daughter Megan, and his sister Anne (Tim).

Rorie was born on October 14th, 1956 in Cleveland, OH to Loretta & William Becka. The Becka family had 3 children, Kevin, Rorie, and his younger sister Anne. The family moved to Arizona in 1967, settling in Tempe. Rorie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, AZ.

Rorie met his wife Mary in 1975, through high school friends. They were married on October 23rd, 1976. Their son Matt and daughter Megan were born a few years later.

Rorie began his career 1975 in rental car with Econocar. Rorie worked for many well-known rental car brands including Trans Rent-A-Car, Hertz, and Dollar. Rorie was an accomplished leader and mentor, growing not just the rental car brands that he worked with, but ensuring that his people always grew in their careers as well. Throughout his 45+ years in rental car, he touched hundreds of people’s lives. Rorie mentored many young people and helped them to become leaders, managers and executives throughout the Southwest.

Rorie retired from rental in 2021 and joined Mary in their pursuit of retired life and full time family time. Rorie was a passionate runner and bicyclist. He spent a lot of time with his gym community, keeping himself as healthy as possible. He was especially passionate about the Pat’s Run event in Tempe and participated in it many years.

Rorie was a very proud father and grandfather. Rorie traveled to Oregon frequently to spend time with Matt’s family including Traci, Tailynn, and Hennessey. He loved spending time with his daughter Megan going on coffee dates. Rorie was a doting father, grandfather. He was a very loved brother and uncle too and will be greatly missed by all his family.

Rorie was also a wonderful friend. He has many people who consider him a part of their extended family. Spending quality time with his friends was very important to him, whether it was drinking martinis, watching football, or playing cards, Rorie was always the best company.
