Karl was a strong, gentle, loving man who spent his life faithfully serving his family, community, country, and God. He was born October 25, 1938 the third of six children into a loving home. He is survived by his brother, Joe, and sisters Marjorie and Gerri. He graduated from Mesa High School then served in the United States Air Force Reserve and was active duty in Scotland in the cold war.
Karl married his high school sweet heart, Ruth. He served as a United States Postal Carrier for 35 years. With his loving wife they raised a family of seven, Tom, Karl, April, Lorin, Daryl, Jared and Kelly . To help support his family, and send his five sons on missions, he worked second jobs as a as taxi driver, newspaper carrier, pest control operator, and entrepreneur in the bumper car business. He spent his life faithfully serving in the LDS church as a scout leader, stake missionary, Sunday school president, care taker for Camp Lomia, a temple worker, and home teacher.
At 73, he volunteered his time to collect food from stores and distribute it to those in need. He always made time to be there for his children, 32 grand children and 24 great-grand children. When heart valve failure slowed down his ability to serve, he chose to risk heart surgery. He continued to serve his family for twenty-five days in ICU as he courageously fought to recover, till he died gracefully with his family gathered lovingly by his side.
