LuAnn Joyce Huston, neƩ Hessel, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, died May 18, 2026 at the age of 81 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her two daughters Congetta Huston Gregg (Husband Theodore and Son Declan) and Tiffany H. Smith (Husband Erick). She is survived by Raven and Lucy (her cats). She is survived by her cousins William Trump, Joni Babl and Debby Kuczynski. She is survived by her half-brother Larry Hessel and her half-sister Leathia Sessler Mcdonald. She is survived by her ex-husband Conrad Huston. She is survived by her dear friends Karen and Ronnie.
LuAnn was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 14, 1944 to Lawrence Hessel and Joyce Hinze. She moved to Arizona with her daughter Tiffany in 1987 and remained there.
LuAnn spent the majority of her work life in accounting and bookkeeping, but spent the last 8 years making pizza dough at Pizza Hut. She enjoyed working with people much younger than her and sharing life experiences.
She enjoyed reading mystery and crime novels, putting together jigsaw puzzles and traveling domestically and internationally, including attending book fairs in Arizona, California and England. One of her favorite trips was to Egypt in 1996 with her daughters Congetta and Tiffany and son-in-law Theodore.
LuAnn introduced all kinds of music to her daughters when they were growing up. She loved country music and dance music (like disco!!) as well as songs played in the 1950s and 1960s. LuAnn also liked the sound of rain.
LuAnn enjoyed antiquing, going to rummage sales and thrifting, something she shared with her daughters. She was a big collector of unusual rings.
A lifelong animal lover, LuAnn was a cat mom to many cats. They were a comfort to her and she enjoyed being surrounded by them. Prior to Raven and Lucy, she enjoyed the company of Baby, Peanut and Opie.
LuAnn loved to watch squirrels and chipmunks in nature and would like her ashes to be scattered amongst the animals, flowers and where it is green. She was at peace in the end as she was looking forward to joining Jesus in heaven.
A celebration of her life will be held in Wisconsin in July 2026 with friends and family.
