Gilbert, AZ
Richard David Castro was born in San Diego, California. He spent four years as a child living in Spain when his Dad, James Castro, was in the Navy. He attended the University of California San Diego for Undergrad and then the University of California, Berkeley for his Masters in Computer Science. On a skiing trip to Lake Tahoe he met the love of his life, Barbara. They went on a 12,000 mile adventure in their camper they lovingly named Breakaway up the West Coast, across Canada enjoying the Montreal Olympics, down the East Coast and then back to California. Later on they had their two children, Christopher and Risa. They lived in Palo Alto, California except for one year they spent living in Hamburg, Germany. Upon retirement they split their time between Los Altos, California and Chandler, Arizona. Rich was an avid golfer, loved Pickleball, dancing and traveling the world. He was a loving husband to his wife Barbara and amazing father to his two kids. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Castro, daughter Risa Castro and husband John Hefel, son Christopher Castro and his wife Noe Kurtz, Grandson Malcolm Castro, niece, Janyne Vasel and great nephews Justin and Jason Dembicki. He is in peace now and will be deeply missed.
