Brandi Leigh Vaughn
05/17/1976 - 06/27/2017
Mesa, AZ
Brandi Leigh Vaughn died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in Mesa, AZ. She was 41 years old.
Brandi was born in Kentucky on May 17, 1976 to Steven and Sandy Osteen (McGee). She was a strong, intelligent woman always determined to follow her dreams and ambitions. If Brandi wanted something, Brandi was going to make it happen. Brandi graduated early from high school at the age of 17. She held many jobs as her talents were boundless. Brandi’s remarkable combination of wit and ability made itself known in every aspect of her life. Prior to moving to Arizona and becoming a Health Unit Secretary at Banner Desert Medical Center, she was a Medical Assistant, Certified Pharmacy Technician, and acted as the Charge at a nursing home. Most recently she was blessed to have made a family at Mountain Vista Medical Center where she was the heart and soul of the OR.
Brandi and Chris were wed in the blazing heat on St. Patrick’s Day 2007 and had 10 incredible years as husband and wife.
Brandi was an amazing cook, and was known to be the one who was volunteered to bring the main dishes to any potluck or get-together. Her sharp wit with her Kentucky twang made it near impossible to know if she was complimenting you or cursing you, which made her that much more endearing. “Oh bless your heart,” was a phrase that became synonymous with her, and, depending on her mood, you would run or melt into tears.
Compassionate in every sense, Brandi’s love was especially abundant for animals. She would never leave an animal in need. A bright, passionate young woman, she was known as the one to go to if you had a stray that needed a home or just someone to pet sit for a few days. Her own pets were her life. Dogs: Nanuk, Sabot and Casey; and the cats: Manson, Dahmer and Bianchi. They were treated royally, to the point that many people were jealous. From special holiday meals for the dogs, including homemade turkey and mashed potatoes, to eggs just because they looked like they wanted something, to the thousands of Temptations she fed the cats, she could just never say no to them. They were her world, and gave her peace.
A private gathering and celebration of life will held in Mesa, AZ. Her grandfather, John Tippett, will receive part of her remains so that she can be home in her beloved hills of Kentucky and be with her grandmother Wanda Tippett, who preceded her in death.
Brandi is survived by her loving husband, Chris and the six fur babies, her mother Sandy McGee, Papaw John Tippett, cousins Jeremiah and Jason, and many wonderful friends and extended family.
