Raymond James Knorr (Jim)
Passed away on December 2nd, 2017 in Mesa, AZ, from complications of Wegener’s Disease and pneumonia. Jim was born January 19, 1957 in Chicago Il to Charles and Eleanore Knorr. He grew up in Barberton OH. He graduated with his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Akron. He was a chief engineer at Honeywell where he worked for 35 years.
He and Laura Fink met through friends at Honeywell and enjoyed almost 25 years of marriage. Jim loved the outdoors, hiking, camping and backpacking. He enjoyed traveling especially to National Parks. He enjoyed working on his Austin-Healey Bug Eye Sprite in his spare time. He served on the board of Montlure Presbyterian camp working to restore the camp after the Wallow Fire. He was active at University Presbyterian Church. When family and friends needed something built, fixed or designed, Jim was the go-to man.
He is survived by his wife, Laura and their children Clarissa, Kendric and Jason Knorr and Exchange-Student Lenja Hilgenberg, brother Dan (Sally) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John.
Services will be held at University Presbyterian Church, January 20, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Montlure Presbyterian Camp, PO Box 42705 Tucson AZ 85733, to aid with the camp’s progressing and imminent reopening.
