Byron Barthel passed quietly and unexpectedly in his sleep the morning of May 31, 2018 from complications of diabetes.

Born in San Diego, California, Byron grew up in Southern California. He graduated from La Crescenta High School and enjoyed snowboarding, roller-hockey, music (playing briefly in a band with his father and step-brother) and everything related to Star Wars.

Moving to the East Valley about 12 years ago in conjunction with an employment opportunity, he met his wife Frannie Rodriguez. Byron and Frannie wed on September 18, 2010. Shortly after they were married, the welcomed their son, Luke, to the family. Byron fully embraced his role as a father through his active and loving involvement in all aspects of Luke’s life.

Byron was a loving father, devoted husband, caring son and much-loved big-brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Frannie, his son, Luke, parents, Pam Riley and Eric Barthel, his brother Max and his sister Roxanne.

Services for Byron will be held at Angels Cremation and Burial at 422 W. McLellan Road, Mesa AZ 85201 at 2 PM, June 23, 2018.
