Daniel George Catlin, beloved husband, father and friend passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on February 9th, 2019. Funeral to be held 10:00am on Saturday, February 23rd at 532 S. Greenfield Road, Mesa, Arizona. Interment to follow at the Mesa Cemetery.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Edwin and (Ruth) Louise Sexton Catlin and his brother, Joseph Catlin. He is survived by his eternal companion and wife of 15 years, Carol Joan Catlin; sisters: Marjorie Howe and Ruth Catlin; children: Benjamin Catlin, Jonathan Catlin, Heidi Crismon, April Moore, Stephen Catlin and 17 grandchildren. He also leaves behind 2 nephews, 2 nieces and step-children.

Born November 8th, 1947 in Wilmington, Delaware, Dan grew up in Woodstown, New Jersey. As a youth he developed a passion for swimming that lasted his entire life. Studying math and engineering, he attended college at ISU, UCLA and ASU where he earned a BS in electrical engineering. From 1970-1989, he was married to Mary Anne Burgoyne, the mother of his 5 children. From 1991-2001, he was married to Laurie Hunt and became step-father to Neum Baker and Crista Radmacher. On January 23, 2004 he married Carol Catlin and has been a support to her children James, Christine, Rebecca and Jason Gentry. He was also a father figure to David Abner who became part of the family in 2006.

During his professional career, Dan held a variety of jobs, many of which focused on the environment, air quality and solar energy. He was a huge proponent of solar energy,
and in 2010 he started his own solar consulting business. He loved sharing how he was able to eliminate his electric bill through solar energy.

Dan’s other interests included swimming, gardening, RV travel, ping pong, ham radio, staying fit and healthy, spending time outdoors, and church and community service. He was happiest when he served and spent time with family. He is a great example to all who knew him of Christlike love and discipleship.
